On November 12, Garrett had toe reconstructive surgery. When he was born his Left big toe had an extra bone in the end so... his toe looked a little wider and smashed. It was hard to fit him in shoes (would rub and irritate him) and we didn't want him to have to relearn how to walk. So Garrett had his first surgury and did Amazing!
He was wide awake at 6:30 AM..
His first toy to ride on...
Just a little more balance and he could do it by himself...
All dressed for surgery. I loved this cute little patient outfit they had, just not the circumstances to wear it.
Garrett loved the noisy paper on the table. He really loves anything that will make noise.
Waking up after surery. Garrett did really good when waking up after the anethesia. He hardly cried, and loved the apple juice afterwards. When th nurse came to take out his IV, Garrett smiled and waved to him. The nurse said he must have a happy disposition, because most kids don't sit still and smile while he takes the IVs out.
So tired from surgery, Garrett loves his face to be tickled.
Before we even got out of the parking lot, Garrett was fast asleep and didn't wake up until coming into Cache Valley...
...where he immediatly started to show off all his tricks and wanted a bottle. It was like he never even knew he had surgery. Even now, 2 weeks later, he's moving and doing everything he can just to be part of stuff. Children are so amazing and resiliant. I sure wish I could bounce back like they do.
Playing with paper!
Waking up from surgery.
